The most people would say: ''NO'' and maybe you all are right!!!. he he The last time I told people to trust me in the mountains was at a Hiking trip in Killarney (Ireland) and we where kind of lost on our Hiking trip while we where in the mountains, but he it was loads of fun. This time I told Jan to follow me on the mountain for Skiing, cause the last time he was skiing was back in 1988, what for Dutch people is still a brilliant year, but then for an other sport, lets say soccer, tak, we won the European Championship in 88, Holland, Holland, lalalal ... Ok back to the skiing, Jan had some experience with skiing I thought so he followed me all the way to the top of the mountain.
It seemed a little bit hard to start skiing with no actual experiences or knowing how to break or going down, it can be even dangerous for yourself and think about all the others, if you are an unguided object going down hill with a speed that we cannot even measure. So Jan was clever and decided to go for a little walk on the hill top. I went down and start to get the feeling for so far I had a feeling about how to ski back. I remembered the instructions of my Australian Ski instructor which I had in Splinder Mlvyn in Czech Republic a year of something back in the time.
I went up and down for 3 times and then Jan was asking me if i would be interested in renting a Snow Scooter. Wow ofcourse I was interested, how often do you have the change to drive a snowscooter as Dutchman :) he he so we went to this renting company, and we needed to read the rules, and then sign the rules. ok after all the admin, they prepared our scooters.
As Jan or me never have been riding on a snow scooter before we hoped to get some instructions about savety and just the workings of a snowscooter in general.
But that was to much to expect, cause the instructor just said, do you see the hendle at the right side of the scooter? We: ''Yes'' Instructor: ''Thats the gas hendle, if you want to start riding use it!'' We: '' Ok" Instructor: "and at the other side you will find the brake!, everything clear?" We: '' Eh yes" Instructor: '' Ok follow me" After this we made an amazing trip through out the whole area, we where driving on many hills and where driving to the snow with this snow monstors. We had one accident as Jan is snow scooter went of track in the soft snow and he ended up kissing a tree with the scooter. Jan really loves tree's.
Luckely everything went fine and nobody got hurted to much. This accident had never happend if we recieved proper explination about the usage of the Snow Scooter, But lets be happy that we all survived in 1 piece.
Now I am even thinking of buying skiies and shoes myself, and go every 2 weeks for skiing :) Skiing is so cool the snow, the hm just everything. Its the best. So the trip was brilliant and i enjoyed it very much.
I am in such a good mood after this trip that this morning (its Sunday 11 Jan 09) I went for a run. Since it would be my first run in prepartion of the Krakow Marathon, I wanted to do it easy, just a simple run of 30 min max. But I started to run, and I enjoyed it so much to run in the snow, and it was just amazing. After A while an old lady starts to speak to me (ofcourse in Polish) and she is little angry on me, I can hear this in her voice, I tell her that I am from Holland and speak just a little polish and ask her whats the issue here? She tells me that I am not good protected for the cold and that I should know its -10 degrees celicius and then you should not run in a t-shirt. He he I told her I am fine and she was not happy but she let me go :D he he he. The run was so nice that after 15 min I forgot to turn, that was mistake 1 when the 30 min past I dont know as I only looked at my watch after 45 min. Then i was so lost cause I was running without knowing where or in which direction I was running. It aint Dublin where I knew everything. So at the end I was lost and needed to run a lot and it took me 2 hours instead of 3o min today. But I loved it, I love to run in a white white world. It was so cool. Now I need to keep this feeling and then I am sure I am able to finish another Marathon. I just think that I should forget the 3 hours and 30 min and that I just need to start and try to finish the marathon in 1 piece. taking part and enjoy it is more important than to compete against myself for a time.
